Song: Color Outside the Lines
(4:02) by Hedley from The Show Must Go
Have you ever noticed the extreme extent of the conflicting
messages we receive? Think outside the
box but color in the lines. Be happy
with yourself but strive to be better.
You’re good enough the way you are but try this wrinkle cream, this
tummy tuck, and this mood modifying medication.
We receive a continual onslaught from the media,
employers, well-meaning family members, and society about the things we should
strive to achieve and the best means in which to do so. We’re encouraged to be individuals yet corralled
as lemmings to think, act, and be the same.
Of course you’re special, just like everyone else!
Psst…come here.
Let me tell you a little secret.
The media and everyone else who thinks we’re all designed to think, act,
and be the same is full of shit! You
have something unique to offer and you’re the only one who can be you. I can’t be you and you can’t be me. We can only each be the person we are, and
guess what, he/she is good enough. YOU
are good enough!
So embrace the you you are and color outside the
lines.
