Creative Combos - YWCA - 01/27/2012

This fun combination was created by students in class on January 27, 2012 (YWCA).  We began with each student drawing a movement from a basket.  Then students were paired up to create a short combo using each move.  Finally, all combos were strung together to create the following choreography.

Works with: Pieces from the Whole by Trent Reznor or Belgrade Riddim by Sub Swara

Start with weight evenly distributed; facing audience; Temple at Ribs (arms).

Combo A

1-4:   Blossoming Lotus raising arms to overhead.
5-8:   Maintain L arm up while lowering R arm into “L Arms (focus R).”
1-4:   R hip Pivot Bump (toward the back) in a full circle to face the audience.  Curl R arm in to chest while turning.
5-8:   Hip Slide R-L.  Pelvic lift-drop.  Bring left arm down to chest and bring hands into Temple at Ribs.


Combo B

1-4:   Walking hip drops (step forward R, R hip drop-drop, step forward L, L hip drop-drop).  Simultaneously, push arms forward in Blossoming Lotus.
5-8:   Walking hip drops (step forward R, R hip drop-drop, step forward L, L hip drop-drop).  Open arms from Blossoming Lotus to “T.”
1-4:   Rib Slide R-L-R-L.
5-8:   Hip Slide R-L-R-L.  Bring arms down by hips.


Combo C

1-2:   Arms are down at hips with palms facing the back.  Pelvic lift.
3-4:   Up/Down Shimmy while raising arms up to rib level.
5-8:   Hip Slide R-L-R-L.  Sway arms (at rib level) with the hips.

1-8:   Arms are up at ribs with palms facing the front.  Pelvic lift.
3-4:   Up/Down Shimmy while lowering arms to hip level.
5-8:   Hip Slide R-L-R-L.  Sway arms (at hip level) with the hips.

*Repeat from beginning.
